    2017 Population Health Assessment

    The 2017 Population Health Assessment presents key demographic and health information of Hastings and Prince Edward counties. The report includes local statistics and figures of public health topics such as communicable diseases, immunizations, facility inspections, smoking, alcohol consumption, illicit drug use, sexual health, reproductive health, child health, oral health, road safety, healthy eating, active living, healthy weights, injuries, chronic diseases, and leading causes of death. Where possible, comparisons are made between sexes, ages, income levels, and urban and rural regions for an up-to-date and thorough look at the state of population health in Hastings and Prince Edward counties.

  • 2017 Tobacco Use Report

    The 2017 Tobacco Use Report explores current tobacco use trends for Hastings and Prince Edward counties.

  • 2016-2017 School Immunization Report

    The 2016-2017 School Immunization Report summarizes the immunization coverage of students in Hastings and Prince Edward counties during the 2016-2017 school year. Specifically, the report highlights the immunization coverage for those born in 2009 (7 to 8 year-olds) and in 2000 (16 to 17 year-olds), based on the Immunization of School Pupils Act. Additionally, the report reviews the immunization coverage for those born in 2004 (12 to 13 year-olds), based on the Grade 7 School Immunization Program.

    The Social Determinants of Health Report

    The social determinants of health are a group of non-biological factors that influence one’s health. They are a major cause of health inequity within a population, making some groups of people healthier than others. The Social Determinants of Health Report illustrates the state of these determinants in Hastings and Prince Edward counties, explaining how they may affect one’s health.

    2016 Oral Health Annual Report

    As part of the Ontario Public Health Standards, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health conducts oral health assessments and surveillance of children in schools. The 2016 Oral Health Annual Report summarizes the findings of those assessments as well as includes a brief outline of the number of appointments and preventive services delivered to children 0-17 years of age through Public Health Oral Health Clinics.

    2016 Community Engagement Report

    The purpose of the 2016 Community Engagement Report is to describe Hastings Prince Edward Public Health's efforts towards achieving the Ontario Public Health Organizational Standard #5.

    As part of the Ontario Public Health Standards, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health conducts oral health assessments and surveillance of children in schools.  The 2015-2016 Oral Health School Screening Report summarizes the findings of those assessments.

    The Real Cost of Eating Well 2016 Report

    The Real Cost of Eating Well in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties 2016 Report summarizes the results of the Nutritious Food Basket survey tool.  This survey tool measures the cost of basic healthy eating according to current nutrition recommendations and average Canadian food purchasing patterns.  Food costing is used to monitor both affordability and accessibility of foods by relating the cost of the Nutritious Food Basket to individual and household incomes.

    Teenage Pregnancy Report

    Over the past decade, while teenage pregnancy rates across Canada have been declining overall, the pregnancy rate among teenagers in Hastings and Prince Edward counties continues to be consistently higher than that of Ontario. The Teenage Pregnancy Report provides a snapshot of the trends related to teenage pregnancy in Hastings and Prince Edward counties between 2005 and 2014, and presents comparisons to Ontario over time.

    Healthy Policies for Active Transportation

    Creating Complete and Sustainable Communities: Healthy Policies for Active Transportation is a report that draws upon the most current public health evidence to identify key objectives and supporting actions for local municipalities who are working to create community settings that make it easier for people to walk, bike and roll for transportation and recreation.

    Low Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines Indicator Report

    The Low Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines Indicator Report presents the landscape of drinking behaviours within Hastings and Prince Edward counties. In accordance with the Population Health Assessment and Surveillance Protocol of the Ontario Public Health Standards, Hastings Prince Edward Public Health has a requirement to monitor trends over time, emerging trends and priority populations in the area of alcohol use.

  • 2015-2016 School Immunization Report

    Hastings Prince Edward Public Health enforces the Immunization of School Pupils Act (ISPA) and provides school-based immunizations. Immunization leads to improved individual and population health. It also helps to save lives and prevent serious illness. This 2015-2016 School Immunization Report summarizes immunization coverage of ISPA and school-based immunizations in Hastings and Prince Edward counties for the 2015-2016 school year.
