Food Handler Training Course

The Ontario Food Premises Regulation 493/17 requires all food premises to have at least one food handler or supervisor with a valid food handler certificate on the premises at all times. Food handler certificates are valid in Ontario for five years.

Food handler training for the public and food industry workers is available in a variety of formats.

Instructor-led live remote food safety training

This online course is lead by a remote instructor through Conestoga College. The final exam is written online.

Self-directed online food safety training

The following online courses have been recognized by the Ministry of Health as meeting the minimum requirements for food handler training and certification.

Food handler training course providers.  After successful completion of a course you will receive a provincially recognized food handler certificate.

In addition, In Good Hands is an online course developed by Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
