    December 9 @ 9:00 am - 4:00 pm Trenton STI Quick Test Clinic (closed 12-1 p.m.)

Trenton STI Quick Test Clinic (closed 12-1 p.m.)

Public Health Quinte West Office 499 Dundas Street West, Trenton, Ontario

Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Quick Test Clinics for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea Individuals are encouraged to contact their own health care provider for STI testing, though this may not be an option for everyone. Individuals can drop-in during STI Quick Test Clinic hours, and provide a self-collected sample (pee in a cup and/or throat swab and/or rectal swab). If you are experiencing symptoms such as burning when you pee, abnormal discharge, pelvic or testicular pain, you should seek assessment and testing from a healthcare provider who can provide prompt treatment at the time of assessment. There is no health care provider at this clinic to assess symptoms and full consultation is not available at the Quick Test Clinic. Treatment is offered after a lab result has been received by HPEPH. If you’ve been notified by a sexual partner that you’ve come into contact with a STI or are interested in testing for other STI/BBI’s, please call the Sexual Health Program to speak with a Public Health Nurse, 613-966-5500 ext 243. Key things to remember if you attend the STI Quick Test Clinics: This is a quick test clinic for chlamydia and gonorrhea ONLY. A complete assessment will not be provided. However you can ask to receive a call from a public health nurse to discuss your risk or learn if additional tests are recommended. Drop-in during STI Quick Test Clinic hours. While the test itself will only take a few minutes, wait time will vary depending on the volume of clients. Please do not urinate (go pee) 1 hour before you attend the clinic. Please bring your health card (if you have one). No News is Good News: we only contact you if you have a positive test.

    Steps to Wellness

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is now offering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for pregnant and new mothers with babies up to 12 months of age, who have been feeling depressed, down, or anxious. CBT has been found to be an effective prevention strategy that targets thinking errors, negative emotions and behaviours. CBT focuses on the interaction of thoughts, emotions and behaviours and has been found to be beneficial as a treatment of Perinatal Mood Disorders – PMD (postpartum depression or anxiety). The Steps to Wellness program is free and is an effective 9-week, online, group-based CBT series where participants will meet weekly in the virtual group setting with public health nurses to learn skills, strategies and tools to help them manage their depression and anxiety. The Steps to Wellness program will provide women with the skills and tools they need to manage the symptoms of PMD and is of benefit to mothers and their families. For more information, or to see if this program is a good fit for you, visit the Healthy Families Request for Support/Information page or call: 613-966-5500 / Toll-Free: 1-800-267-2803 ext. 223 Email: careline@hpeph.ca
