Media Release: New Bump to Baby online prenatal education now available through South East Health Unit

May 1, 2025

Expecting parents can prepare for childbirth and parenting from the comfort of home with Bump to Baby, a free, online prenatal and parenting program now being offered by South East Health Unit (SEHU).

Prenatal education is an essential part of planning for a healthy pregnancy. In 2024, 1,023 expectant families across the region now served by the South East Health Unit accessed online prenatal education offered through public health. Bump to Baby allows expectant families to complete prenatal education from any location with internet access, at a pace that works best for them. This flexible online format removes many of the barriers that prevent expectant families from participating in traditional in-person prenatal classes.

Bump to Baby is a valuable resource for all expectant parents, whether this is their first pregnancy, or they already have children. The program provides essential information about pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as well as links to local resources. Content is reviewed and updated regularly to ensure it is up to date with current best practices, concerns and trends. The program helps expectant families learn through a variety of fun and engaging videos, 3D animations, activities, quizzes and helpful web links.

Bump to Baby is made up of three sections: Pregnancy, Labour and Delivery, and Life with Your New Baby. These sections include information on what to eat and what to avoid during pregnancy, your baby’s development during pregnancy, the stages of labour, comfort measures during labour, medical procedures during labour and delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding and more!

“Clients who have completed Bump to Baby have shared that it really helped them to feel prepared for labour and birth, baby care and breastfeeding” said Kristen Stones, Public Health Nurse at SEHU. “Many community agencies and health-care providers have also shared their support for the program.”

Expectant families are encouraged to complete Bump to Baby as early as possible in their pregnancy journey. The program is free and easily accessible. To learn more about Bump to Baby and to register:
